Playing with words

 

Better late than never! I did a mini version at the end of July (a couple of fic and gifset recs) but since I had multiple writing assignments due in the first couple weeks of august, I had to drop everything else to write. Now that I'm caught up, here's my MCU + VIOLET gifset!

Not really sure what to offer, but I can make icons or gifsets. Feel free to HMU with requests- any fandom that is tagged on my DW should be game. :) Going to list the sets I made for Sunshine challenge below if you want an idea of fandoms.

This was a fun challenge! I liked taking a retrospective look at all the fannish things I've loved over the years. Looking forward to next year! :D

 

So I figured this one was coming so I actually made my GIFset before posting this time. LOL

Train to Busan + Yellow

No idea why the director chose to use so much yellow in this film, but it's literally everywhere- warning pylons, the wallpaper in Su-an's room and even the furnishings in Seok-woo's apartment (who has a bright yellow sofa ever). Maybe it's a signal for "safe" or "normal"? 

I'm not usually a big horror fan, but this movie isn't actually gory, just TENSE AF. The social commentary on classism and the fallibility of capitalism when it comes to preserving society is even more strikingly relevant now. Sang-Hwa, the rough, working class hero, leads the iconic charge through train cars full of zombies only protected by his adhoc yellow tape armguards.

As for songs, I thought of Yellow Submarine by The Beatles and Coldplay, of course. Plus Daylight by Taylor Swift.

I'm actually editing a history of Canadian citizenship right now for the Lost Canadians and surprise! There were lots of racist laws designed to disenfranchise our Indigenous people and Asian immigrants. The most annoying thing is that they still affect our laws today. Of course I'm still proud to be Canadian! I just think we need to make sure our laws reflect who we are as a society now, instead of say, a vehement racist like Mackenzie King. (Who is on our $50 bill. Which is red.) Which brings me to:

The song Red by Taylor Swift is literally the first thing that pops into my head when you mention the color. She refers to it in Daylight on Lover too, and that specific lyric is the epigraph for 結び in Bound. ("I once believed love would be burning red. But it's golden like daylight.") BUT of course I made a GIFset with the lyrics from Red:

And because I associate Red with Vadar specifically here is my Kolvina set with Anidala quote after Kol killed Davina. FUN TIMES WITH OTP PARALLELS GUYS
