Sunshine Challenge #1 plus Happy Canada Day!

I'm actually editing a history of Canadian citizenship right now for the Lost Canadians and surprise! There were lots of racist laws designed to disenfranchise our Indigenous people and Asian immigrants. The most annoying thing is that they still affect our laws today. Of course I'm still proud to be Canadian! I just think we need to make sure our laws reflect who we are as a society now, instead of say, a vehement racist like Mackenzie King. (Who is on our $50 bill. Which is red.) Which brings me to:

This is one of my favorite colors and I've made lots of past fanworks with a red theme or totem:

The song Red by Taylor Swift is literally the first thing that pops into my head when you mention the color. She refers to it in Daylight on Lover too, and that specific lyric is the epigraph for 結び in Bound. ("I once believed love would be burning red. But it's golden like daylight.") BUT of course I made a GIFset with the lyrics from Red:

I can't believe I forgot about Taylor Swift's Red when picking a song for today, it's so obvious, I feel like I should facepalm. Plus, I'm also Canadian, and how could I forget to mention red and Canada Day. Oh well, in my defence, telling what day of the week it is anymore is getting harder and harder, they are all blending together.

Oh, are you still on lockdown? Which part of Canada are you in? My mom and sisters are in Phase 2 in their cities, but apparently people are being really resistant to using masks etc. and numbers are rebounding. :/

I'm in the GTA area, and we just entered phase 2 this week, but now they are making masks mandatory, because cities near us had an uptick in cases when they entered phase 2 before us, so a by-law is supposed go in effect next week making masks mandatory for indoor spaces like stores, until approximately September.

YES! You actually reminded me of some fanart I should link. As a GIFmaker, I love it when there's a symbol or visual metaphor of some kind. It's like following a white rabbit through a story!

I realized that there is red string tied around the kuchikamizake when I went to GIF the red set too- which was the other musubi (bond) between them. This movie just keeps making me love it more! :DDD

The gifsets were all wonderful, but I was particularly struck by the Your Name grouping because I just love, love that movie so much (adding to my queue!). I am loving what everyone is coming up with so far! New music and fanworks and arts and ... each post has been so fun to investigate!

TS's Red album might be my favourite of hers. 1989 is also great, but some of the songs on Red just hit different. :')

I don't understand why Red was so underrated compared to her other albums! I LOVE it. That said, I love pretty much anything TS. :P I wish I could see her in concert!

Oh, wow, true!! Omg okay that's made up my mind, I'm rewatching KNNW asap. I don't know why I didn't think earlier to pay more attention to the visuals; if there's one think Shinkai was going to put hidden details into, it would have been the visuals. :P

Red is soooo nostalgic to me. I used to adore Bad Blood and I Knew You Were Trouble, but I don't think they've aged so well for me - I enjoy them now, but that's it. But All Too Well, The Lucky One, State of Grace (especially the acoustic version) — those still tug on my heartstrings. ♥ My favourite TS song still has to be Clean, though. Boy, did that song get me through some tough times. xD

UGH STOP I LOVE IT, he's so tragic and yes you're right it's utterly his own doing and very much brought by his own hand. The idea of this whispered-about child of destiny actually controlling his own life so utterly is at once satisfying and chilling. Ugh, I love anything to do with Vader. *happy sigh*
