AoS 4x16 "What if..." and other shows

nrgburstSo the last scene in the ep had me like Fitz in the icon.
BZZZTTT. INCORRECT LIPS IN CONTACT. YOU TROLLS WHUUUUUUT I think my brain actually melted a little. XD
But I loved the whole ep. AU PERFECTION. XD I loved how they filmed the whole thing in The Matrix style slightly green filter, so it's all just a smidge off, but you can't really put your finger on why.
Ward's return was perfect. Such familiar S1 Skye/Ward interactions, except with Daisy|Skye being spooked AF while improvising like a trained pro. Which was all sorts of LOOK AT HOW FAR YOU'VE COME! and THIS IS MAKING ME SO NOSTALGIC. He's so warm and protective! And it looks like they're still going for the OSG "I'd be good for you" trope, which I won't deny, I want to see played straight because I know it's fake and temporary. XDDDD Plus Jemma's grossed out reactions to their "relationship" were The Actual Best. LOL
JUST YOU WAIT, GIRL. HELL GETS GROSSER.
The Buffy homage was A++++. And the best line of the ep was definitely Jemma's too:

*cries* How is he ever going to be able to leave this horrible AU-land?
Speaking of crying, Maggie's storyline over the last few eps of Grey's is actually hitting a little too close to home. We're moving back to Canada partially because my mom isn't doing so great health-wise, and we want the girls to know her while she still has some good time left. It's been both helpful to watch and hard to watch. :/
As for The Originals, Kol and Rebekah took off in 4x03 as expected, which takes a lot of the anticipation out of the upcoming eps for me. I looooved Klaus and Hope interacting, though! He's so proud, so delighted to get to know his little girl! You can really feel all the seasons of growth he's undergone.
I also loved how Rebekah still felt she had to ask permission to go, whereas Kol just took off before a dagger caught him. Klaus may have had his heart grow three sizes, but they're still conditioned by centuries of control- it should show. I just wish we could get more than a tiny glimpse of their road trip. :((( I do like how it's already implied that he's "chasing after" something to bring back Davina. GOOD. GO DO THAT.
The Vincent/Eva backstory was great! Pretty sure this new threat is their unborn child though. And I loved Marcel's dreadful knowing as he revealed that M on the back of the hairbrush. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Good TV. :DDD
The iZombie S3 premiere was a little blah for me, although I'm really enjoying amnesiac!Blaine and Clive now-in-the-know. I'm looking forward to seeing teenage brain!Major from the season teasers most.

Date: 2017-04-08 05:13 am (UTC)I AM WITH YOU! Canon AUs, I think, are often played for laughs or for nostalgia -- and there's nothing wrong with that; they make the viewers smile. But Marvel is outdoing itself when it really lets this alternate universe be dark as fuck, and relevant exactly for that reason: a cruel, malignant bureaucracy to destroy the individual and uphold a twisted idol of the nation. Good take on fascism, probably the best the MCU has managed so far, frankly (I know technically CA:TFA qualifies, but it's too comic-book, too comical ultimately).
Haha, I loved her reaction so. Very. Much. Jemma. ♥ I adore her so much, her and Daisy...which is why this ep is probably my favorite of all of AoS, after 4,722 Hours.
This season. ALL CYLINDERS, I SAY! It's really the best superhero show on television...and has been for a bit, alas (I say as a Supergirl fan who wishes the writers weren't so dumb and understood what made their show sweet and appealing in the first place).

Date: 2017-04-09 12:26 am (UTC)I can see why people stopped watching after the initial Marvel tie-in hype wore off, but this season is truly outstanding. They crafted the three arcs really well, upping the stakes with each episode, wonderfully character driven and in tune with current events. SO MUCH LOVE.
I keep seeing stuff about Supergirl, but I just couldn't get into the pilot! I watched the musical crossover ep with the Flash because this former Gleek just had to be nosy, but the character dynamics seemed almost trite? And man, the dialogue. LOL Yeah, I cringe over the CW's morph into a superhero network. I'm all for the TVD, TO, Jane the Virgin, iZombie and Reign kind of prrogramming. LOL
