The Originals 3x19
May. 1st, 2016 05:38 pmI'm still so upset about this episode but I tried to make a proper response post:
Rewatching any of Cami's scenes just sets me off crying again. Such a tragic, awful LOSS, although I have to say it was beautifully written to showcase what was so awesome about her? :((( I also love how they amped up the vibrance and color saturation on the dream scenes. How she got to spend her last day in her perfect world holding hands with her favorite person (WHO IS KLAUS. AWHAHAHa GAWD.) Even the scene with her dictating her will and him having a tantrum at the end was A+++. But I don't like the Narducci explanation for why they chose to do it- it sounds like textbook fridging: (i. e. she died to service the other character's storylines.) "we wanted to take it to a really sad, terrible, dangerous, dark place so that we could try to redeem ourselves and heal the family in our next line of stories" and because watching her endure hardship and death without falling from grace would be "an important lesson for Klaus.") Plec's is that "her character had run its course." What? I feel like Vincent's (and Hayley's) views are far more apt: Cami's death will leave a ginormous HOLE in The Originals. Her POV is so much more grounded than any of the other mains (I would say Josh has a Real World perspective on things too, but he doesn't really count.) and while you can see fandom complain when she calls the Supes out (because she should "know her place" ahahahaha), it was necessary?
I'm a little worried Davina's death is going to stick too, but I'm trying to hold on to hope since she's still in the synopsies until 3x21. Get yourself Cured, Kol and bring her back before she goes all martyr determined to bring down the Ancestors. I'm hoping we see Kaleb, Sophie, Monique and Mary Alice Claire in the next eps- some people are hoping to see Genevieve and Celeste but why would they interact with Davina?
Seriously, how romantic was that dagger scene? Yes, the one where Kol finally tells Davina he loves her to convince her to stab him in the heart. This pairing is just pure angst, I STG. Plus I loved the parallel to 2x14:
AND OF COURSE HE KILLED HIS TRUE LOVE ANYWAY.Now I can parallel him with Anakin Skywalker, actual fuck up of Galactic Proportions. CONGRATS KOL. Davina has always been so confident in her powers and you can understand why? Like the way she just tossed him like a "second string copycat" of Klaus when he started to vamp out in their fight? And yet she was so scared of him when he surprised her in full monster mode in the end; the way she struggled so frantically; just how much bigger he is. UGHHH. I can't even bring myself to GIF it yet.
Pretty sure Marcel is The Beast/Friend from the prophecy, so her permadeath might be used to cement him on his spiral in the last two eps. :/// I rewatched 3x01 to GIF the flashbacks and that is totally CMD with the big fangs in in the prophecy sequence. Plus Danielle was filming a movie during 3x22 filming and is not listed in the synopsis. :((((
I also think the opposition of the points Cami and Lucien made ("Love will make you strong"/"Love simply makes one weak") is going to come into play at season end. After all, "Family is Power"- even if it's also what screws you up.
