HTGAWM 2x12

nrgburstHaven't done one of these in forever! And this might be a bit disjointed because I have no central point to make but:
I have no idea what it is with all the Star Wars homages in TGIT today. Were these eps being written when TFA released? Like Bailey is canonically a Star Wars geek (and therefore I think Shonda is because nobody accidentally parallels episodes to being encased in carbonite) but seriously:
"He's your father?!" (Grey's promo for next week. Apparently 12x10, 11 and 12 were one huge script that they had to split in three.)
"It's a trap!" (title for this ep of HTGAWM)
"I shouldn't have done that." (with building instrumental in the background that abruptly gets cut off too! XDDD)
The latter was the biggest WTF moment for me, even over the final Wes-might-be-a-serial-killer reveal (Rebecca might have been right!). This was me during the Wes/Laurel car scene:
We haven't seen The Quiet Ones really bonding like Michaela and Connor have until this ep, so I thought it was awesome to have Wes listen to Laurel unburden herself, and then reassure her by acknowledging how much she has helped him. At laaast! Go team! Yay!
And then that kiss came OUT OF NOWHERE and they were both totally into it!
Like, we've never had even hints that they are attracted to each other??? And especially with the final reveal, I bet Laurel is really questioning her taste in men now. LOL
I don't think Wes did it though? I think he found her, pulled out the knife and therefore she bled out, so technically he killed her. (Plus his prints were on the murder weapon.) But there was no motive for him to be stabbing her in the first place?
The Coliver scene was all sorts of adorable! From "Honey, I'm home!" to "Run away with me to paradise, my love" (paraphrased) to "You're the horniest person I know."/"You love it," this ship basically sails itself. (Also a callback to the "You love me and you want to have my babies" from 1x04! Ahhhh! <3) Are we going to see Oliver's family and why he wants to stick around Philly, maybe? And maybe Oliver in the back six in some color other than grey? PLEASE?
I also really like seeing Annalise/Sam in the flashbacks. They feel so solid and couple-y: the banter! The trust! The reliance on the other when one feels insecure! It seems pretty obvious that losing the baby has to do with the Mahoney case, and that that is what starts fracturing their relationship. (Although we haven't seen Eve pop back into Annalise's life yet in the flashbacks. COME ON EVE. PROVE ME WRONG.)
I love Found Family narratives, but this show is probably the most cynical, miserable take on it I have ever seen. Bonding over a difficult shared experience? HOW ABOUT MURDER COVER-UPS? THOSE SEEM TRAUMATIC. XD And how Annalise considers herself to be the reluctant mom to the K5 and "it's the worst experience of [her] life." It's also telling how much that speech affected Bonnie. :(
While I am ticking off ships on my HTGAWM roster chart, might as well mention Michala/Caleb because I am still shipping it, especially because they've both called each other out for bad behaviour. She's skirting a dangerous edge here with her almost-truths and deliberate deceptions vs. her genuine attraction to Caleb despite how he concealed knowing about the gun and I LOVE IT. "Believe what makes you feel better" is basically "rationalize the bad stuff," right? LOL Also Michaela deserves more orgasms before possible jail time. GET IT GIRL. :DDD I will probably be GIF-ing their scenes because I bet nobody else has.
