So Sarah Shahi had been downgraded to guest star from series reg for S4 of Person of Interest, and I've been super worried ever since I noticed. When I heard that there would be yet another "3 episode event" I became even more concerned. (Yes, we all remember exactly how Carter got killed off, CBS.)

Seriously 2015, this is how you're going to start my fandom year? It's only been a week or so since I last cried over a tragically dead fictional character. :((((((

Yes, I've seen the promo and also read these interviews that confirm that Shahi's exit was: 1. her choice since she's pregnant with twins and 2. that Shaw's return is possible.

But I am just so gutted. Shaw was my fave. Like I would 8000% prefer that Reese or Lionel got offed, but at least this time it wasn't "for the story"(i.e. to give Reese a return to manpain and then HER JOB.)

And yet another fan service kiss before the heroic ending, but this one had flirty subtext from the get-go in S2, so TAKE THAT all you "gay agenda" hating FB fans.

One thing I loved was how absolutely fearless she was as she looked death in the face. Such a contrast from when her cover was blown in 4x09:

I'm so hopelessly behind on POI, I still haven't watched since 4x02 but a couple of gifsets have shown up on my dash of this scene so I got spoiled. I guess it's for the best since I knew about Carter's death when I first started the show mid-last year, but this fucking sucks. I cried over Carter and I'm going to be gutted over this as well. I can understand Sarah wanting to leave as she's pregnant but it's still awful. Holy shit at the kiss though, it'll be interesting to watch their interaction up to this episode, because the subtext was rapidly becoming text tbh.

I was talking with a co-worker this week who keeps up with it and I told her I heard something big happens but I wasn't sure. She said she didn't like what happened, but I never thought it would've been a death. Why couldn't Lionel have died for reals? Or him instead of Carter tbh, she was the best and he's just there. :(

It has been pretty blatant, so I am totally RME at the fan anger over it. Especially since Caviezel is Catholic, a lot of fans are saying he's a horrible person for appearing in an episode that has a gay kiss. EXCUSE YOU, WHAT.

Narratively speaking, Lionel has a purpose: to be the normal Joe caught up in their shenanigans. The rest of them are specialists, and to be fair the only indispensable ones are Harold and Root. Like I think they are the white male senators in this story- The Machine even labels them differently (Primary Asset, ANALOG INTERFACE). But Caviezel is the fan favorite, so he pretty much gets immunity too. :/ And I could understand Shaw's fatalism: she's been trapped underground ever since her cover got blown. She isn't safe anywhere anymore. Might as well go down in a blaze of glory while saving everybody else. The promo for the next ep also confirms that Shaw didn't get the head shot the way the final shot seemed to indicate. (Dramatic music, elevator doors slowly shutting out the view of Shaw's calm, prone form as Martine aims the gun at her head. Doors shut, we hear the bang). Like I am just dying to know how they are "leaving the door open" and hoping Shahi gets a nanny. AAARRRGGHH

Oop, I just realised I wasn't following you on tumblr when I could've sworn I was. Maybe I unfollowed you accidentally? But I am a bit of a fail on tumblr, I don't really know what I'm doing lol. I just reblog 50 billion Marvel things and that's it. It confuses me. XD

Yeah, Lionel sticks around for those reasons, plus they love to have Reese troll him as well, but still. Ugh. There are enough white guys on this show and they've now shed 2/3rds of their female cast. I didn't even bother giving POI a chance to start with because it seemed to star two white guys from what I could tell, but changed my mind because of Carter. I need some diversity ffs, instead of a single woman with three dudes. It's a good thing the show's so amazing otherwise I'd just drop it tbh. UNACCEPTABLE.

Fingers crossed the way they left it means Shaw can come back, but lord knows when that would even be anyway. :/

Yeah, I'm still so bummed. The snark is just not as good coming from the others, although they all get some good zingers for such a serious show. Things I will also miss: the constant eating and cool application of her sociopathy, knack for violence and flashy cars. Her fridge full of weapons and milk. How she planted bugs on the whole team, even Finch. How she looks up guns when she's on geek squad duty. SIGGGGHHHHHH.

Haha, so it's not just me. I know I was following you at some point because I remember seeing a lot of HTTYD stuff, so idk. I only noticed because I saw 12 reblogged something from you and there was the little plus icon next to your name and then I was like, "Wait...". XD It's nice to know my tags are so crazy you can tell it's me though. :P

I love Shaw because she's so unapologetic about who/how she is and the show hasn't tried to mould her into the ~right kind of woman. Because the characteristics she has are usually reserved for men and they then start to get ~fixed and rme. Some people are just fucked up, leave them be with that. The writers of POI do well with women, it's just keeping them on the show that seems to be the problem.
