Belated Chocolate box reveal and other fannish things

I'm baaack! Taking care of my sister sort of tanked most fannish things I'd planned to do in February (like writing and signing up for space_swap *cries*) but at least I can still sign up for maythe4th. Also: I haven't ever shipped real people but OHMYGAWD I swear CBC (our national, government sponsored TV channel) helped put me on the Virtue/Moir (our Olympic Ice Dance Gold Medalists) train. Like they seriously made a freaking fanvid about them AND a Road to Olympics documentary and now I'm like everybody else, watching old videos like their TEDx talk and hoping they'll just get together already now that they are retiring. /totally judging myself XD 

Also Moir totally skipped a "mandatory" practice to watch the Women's Hockey final and his reaction to yet another penalty decision is just A++++. Watch him not spill his beer while he shouts at refs in a Canada toque! XDD Patrick Chan's reaction (you can see him next to Moir in the GIF) is also priceless. XDDD

 

I got 2(!) gifts for Chocolate Box! First time ever to get a treat- I was so surprised!

My main gift is Amaaaazing! Such loving detail put into the characterization and format, and the callbacks will kick you in the feels in the good way. SO MUCH LOVE and you should all read it!

My fic was fairly well received! It's not a hot pairing or fandom but the comment+kudos/hit ration is good! I did some worldbuilding to try to explain how Padme got that antique wedding dress tailored in time for a secret wedding.

I clicked on the link for the vid and had to laugh at myself because I expected it to be slashy. I don't know why because pair skating, but I was caught on your comment that they could be together once they retired and I thought about the homophobic nature of most athletics. I did a double-take when I first heard her voice. I was like, wow, that guy sounds weird. LOL

I think figure skating is the sport most populated by gay men, TBH. A lot of our famous Olympians (Brian Orser, Eric Radford) are gay, even if they competed in pairs with women as their partners. Both Scott and Tessa do appear to be straight though, hence the frustration of the general public trying to make sense of their smoking chemistry on ice and body language off it (constant handholding and gazing at each other lovingly in interviews).
