Day 1
In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year?
This is my second year participating, and I'm hoping to meet new people and get excited about fannish things again the same way I dd last year. It was a fun thing to do after the big switcheroo to DW from LJ last year, and it made me a lot happier about the permaswitch- so nice to find a friendly, active community focused on fannish joy! It made me think a lot about how contribution is key to making fandom fun, and how important it is to recognize each other's contributions. Yeah, we make art for the sake of it, but connecting with others is why we post.
I did all the challenges last year and hope to do the same this year! :)

EXACTLY. I feel like there's a different level of connection that goes into being a fannish creator, versus the more traditional concepts of artists [and I include writers as artists]. It IS more communal, and about that shared experience. Which is one of the things I love about it. [And honestly, it's what I look for in my studio experiences too - a sense of community and collaborative effort.]
