Snowflake Day 2

Challenge #2

In your own space (or their own space) interact with someone new.

Already done via comments today on my Snowflake #1 post (and others)! This is my favorite part of snowflake really- everybody is so fannishly enthused and positive and it feels like a big ole party. :D


Anyway, inspired by rhoda_rants here's some year end positivity for 2020:

1. My skin is finally clear for the first time in decades, and I think it's because for months I haven't worn makeup (which is a societal expectation here) because I haven't left the house or because most of my face is mask covered anyway. In terms of silver linings to losing my job this is a big one, and totally unexpected!

2. Wrote 93000+ words; my biggest yearly word count ever. Also my highest completed fic count ever (15) and most number of fandoms written for. The response to Check and Mate (The Queen's Gambit, Beth/Benny) in particular is really blowing me away- IME most fannish response is limited to the first week after a fic is posted, but people are still kudosing/commenting on it more than a month later! And it's just a one-shot so it's not like it's been getting bumped to the top of the tag- I don't even know how people are finding it but it's awesome! :DDD

3. Made 35 GIFsets and 15 fic header type edits and two of them passed 1K notes (Beth/Benny in Black and White, MCU+ violet)

4. Read more than 100 books, which is also a personal best since like, elementary school when there were contests and I wanted to wiiiin. LOL

5. Learned to cook some delicious new foods.

Thank you for whatever you make for me! I lean more towards wanting sweet, heartwarming or sexy treats, but if you have something that gives wonderfully angsty pangs based on the pairings below, go for it! Angst with a happy ending is my #1 favorite thing and I love it when it hurts so good. :D

Some general DNWs:
Graphic gore, Scat, A/B/O, Mpreg, Cheating on a partner, High School AUs, misogyny, major character death, non-con sex, character bashing, incest (unless it's already established in canon), non-requested pairings. 

Things I love: 
canon-AU, 5+1 and missing scene type fics, worldbuilding details, female characters acting with agency and awareness, badass couples being badass together. I love action, angst with a happy ending, fluff and soulmate AUs, fairy tale/literary/mythology references/AUs, epistolary formats. More loves: humour, witty banter, pining, family bonding, everybody lives!, respecting boundaries, sexytimes, feminist themes, competency, respectful relationships. 


The Queen's Gambit:

Beth/Benny- SOULMATES AU- Just. "No, I know I'm right and Beth sees things the same way I do." and "Do you ever go through games in your head? When you're alone, I mean- play all the way through them?" "...Doesn't everybody?"

Anything to do with this trope- shared scars/dreams, first words, red string. Also there's an 8 year age difference between them- how does that come into play?

Beth & Jolene- a growing up missing scenes fic would be great. What was it like at Methuan? Or an epistolary AU where they stayed in contact would be nice too.


Game of Thrones

Podrick/Sansa- he's been there in the background for almost her whole journey, and I think he's one of the few people she would feel safe with, who would stand by her and yet also speak up when she's making dodgy decisions. The fact that he's currently her brother's Kingsguard gives this ship nice built-in conflict, too. 

Jojen/Bran- I love Jojen's unshakeable devotion and the fact that they are both greenseers. A premise where Jojen doesn't die and Bran remains more himself when he becomes the 3ER would be great. House Reed actually showing up to the War for the Dawn with crannogmen would be awesome too, or missing scenes on the journey North. Modern AU- maybe they're both in college learning predictive algorithms or something?

Brienne/Jaime- mythology AU like Hercules and the unkillable Nemean Lion with a twist would blow my mind. Or perhaps Artemis/Orion with a twist? Or Atalanta/Hippomenes?


Lost in Space

John/Maureen is one of those ships that I didn't expect, but I like how they are falling back in love and working on their relationship after a period of being estranged because I find that so realistic. What's it like to fall in love with your husband again while navigating new challenges? To rebuild intimacy when your kids and a psychopath and Don are always underfoot? Are there dates? Are there romantic notes? Do they hook up in the Rover?


Bridgerton

Penelope/Colin

This pairing is just perfect for all the pining, best-friends-to-lovers obliviousness and angst with a happy ending. Epistolary while he's on his trip abroad? Having a premise like the book where he comes back and starts to realize how incredible she is without the annoying fatphobic nonsense would be great too. Also working in the LW reveal would be *chefs kiss*, especially if he figures it out himself because he knows her.
