This keeps coming up

A Commander is privy to classified intel; a Captain is not. Just to clarify for those with no military background, THAT'S WHY SHE WOULDN"T TELL HIM. HE DIDN'T HAVE THE CLEARANCE AND WAS NOT ENTITLED TO KNOW.

Here's a great article about that arc in the film.

Great article. POE KILLED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE.

I'll note here that one of my straight white male gamer friends now absolutely hates Poe.

Bookmarking this for later, but you know what I'm realizing? We're so used to the Plucky Underdog Schools Superior Officer On How To Do The Thing that we expect that to be the default correct way TO do the thing. Like, there's a reason she outranks him. She EARNED her position and is good at her job. That's how the chain of command is supposed to work.

She's just fabulous and amazing and I need to watch it again with my expectation blinders OFF because honestly? It took me a bit to figure out where they were going with this movie. Once I did, I loved it, but yeah, not having that expectation of, "But...action guy! Plucky underdog hero! We love Poe! Don't we love Poe? What's happening?!?" that I went into it with.

And ROSE. I loved Rose so much.
