You know it's wonderful to read something like this from someone who has been through the rough pain of loss. When you read a fic written like yours is, it's hard to deny the verisimilitude of the story. I really dislike the stories where they skip over grief too quickly, especially for the characters in Pacific Rim. Guillermo del Toro wrote his script with conviction, knowing that in order for the world to be saved, there must be great sacrifice. Therefore the bonds between the characters themselves were often familial and fortified by the drift.

You've managed to write something that I could believe. Although, I haven't experienced the loss and grief that comes with losing a family member, but I can appreciate the effort and heart that went into this. Thanks for sharing this. It really is a gem.
