I reread it a few times and figured it was probably underwear or sexual paraphernalia, but it was too vague for me to feel the punch, kind of how if someone has to explain a joke, people might think it's funny but no one laughs.

As for the post-drift, it might be canon and it might not, but you made it look plausible. Even if it contradicted canon, that's what ffiction is for IMHO.
